On the industry side, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) will focus on actions that can develop the value chain of the textile and garment industry to become more circular and sustainable. Together with global brands, international key-experts, local stakeholders, and actors along the textile value chain, UNIDO will work on developing an infrastructure that can valorize post-industrial and pre-consumer textile waste. Together with the ZDHC foundation, local capacities that can help eliminate the use of hazardous chemicals in the production of textiles and garments will also be developed in Egypt.
At policy level, Egypt has successfully developed its Sustainable Consumption and Production National Action Plan (SCP-NAP) (UN Sustainable Development Goal 12). For further information please visit the Egypt national policy hub.
