In Israel, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) will support industries in becoming more circular, producing with recycled sourced materials that can, and again, be recycled. The MED TEST III project will focus on specific actions that can contribute to improve the circularity of the plastic industry in Israel. In partnership with a pool of institutional stakeholders, such as, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Environment, EPRs/Deposit schemes, the Manufacturers Association of Israel and the Standards Institute of Israel, UNIDO will map the plastic waste recycling value chain and undertake a market study for setting up a recycling PET bottle-to-bottle plant. This work will go along with the development of national guidelines that can improve the design for recyclability of plastic packaging and support the ongoing transition in Israel’s plastic packaging value chain.

At policy level, Israel has successfully developed its Sustainable Consumption and Production National Action Plan (SCP-NAP) (UN Sustainable Development Goal 12) and is currently implementing it. For further information please visit the Israel national policy hub.
