The situation in the neighbouring region and an ongoing political crisis critically endangers the economic situation for people and businesses in Lebanon. A combination of expensive imports, costly energy supplies, and restricted access to finance has limited the ability of businesses to operate.

From 2015-2017, the MED TEST II project in Lebanon approached industries in Lebanon to support the transition to a resource-efficient production. The achieved results from the demonstrations indicated that a resource-efficient production can, with moderate investments, significantly help businesses to reduce production costs.

Following the outcomes of the MED TEST II project in Lebanon, a roadmap for scaling up RECP was drafted by the government and key stakeholders from the industry. The initial activities for MED TEST III will build on this roadmap and include improvement measures on the environmental performance of industrial areas and parks.
