Users can adopt digital ocean plots, with the funds supporting marine cleanup operations. This gamified approach makes conservation accessible and engaging, especially for Gen Z, environmentally-conscious individuals, gamers, and tech enthusiasts.
Tecnhically also, an ocean pilot digital twin is a technology already commonly used to represent a virtual replica of a marine vessel or maritime operation. It integrates data from sensors, equipment, and environmental factors to simulate and optimize vessel performance, navigation, and safety in real-time. By enhancing operational efficiency and decision-making for maritime activities, it proves to be a valuable tool in the marine industry.
Thanks to the mentoring, technical assistance, and finance training between SwitchMed, Haifa University and external consultant. This support is crucial as the startup aims to scale its operations and enhance platform features during 2024. The company’s mission is to use virtual plot sales to fund real-world cleanups, engaging a global community in fighting plastic pollution. Initially a research-based project, it now has a practical action component for preserving marine ecosystems.
After the SwitchMed training, the consultancy helped overcome several notable barriers, leading to a clearer and more refined project plan. Key outcomes and contributions of the consultancy included:
Clear Workplan: Under the consultant’s expert guidance, My Ocean Twin BE developed a well-structured workplan for the forthcoming phases of the project.
Enhanced Project Viability: Collaborative efforts between the project team and the consultant significantly enhanced the overall viability and potential success of My Ocean Twin.
Strategic Funding Opportunities: The subscription to an international online database for funding opportunities proved to be a judicious investment.
In striving for sustainable impact, SwitchMed incubatees focus on three essential factors: Environment, Society, and Economy. My Ocean Twin aims to achieve a substantial reduction in plastic pollution and carbon footprint, bolster awareness and engagement in ocean conservation efforts, and innovate revenue streams through the sale of NFTs and strategic partnerships. These pillars not only guide projects but also ensure they contribute positively to environmental preservation, societal awareness, and economic growth within their communities and beyond in the Mediterranean. Moreover, the project incorporates an additional innovative component: leveraging blockchain technology and the metaverse to create an interactive and impactful conservation platform, underscoring their commitment to pioneering solutions that blend technological innovation with environmental advocacy and economic viability.
Some clear figures from My Ocean Twin show aims to increase user engagement by 20% quarterly, remove 500 kg of plastic waste monthly, and achieve a 15% increase in monthly revenue. The company offers virtual ocean plots (NFTs), in-game goods, corporate partnerships, subscriptions, and educational workshops, fostering a sense of community and purpose among users. In 2024, My Ocean Twin measures its impact through environmental, social, and economic indicators, tracking the area of ocean cleaned, plastic waste removed, carbon emissions reduced, community engagement, and educational participation. Financially, the startup seeks $1 million to scale operations, with $50,000 raised so far, aiming for profitability within three years.
My Ocean Twin’s blend of virtual technology and real-world impact offers a compelling solution to ocean pollution, engaging users in a gamified experience that contributes to environmental conservation. We really congratulate Reut, and we hope for great achievements in the future!
