Last 4 June the Directorate-General for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations (DG NEAR) and the EU Neighbours South project invited SwitchMed to participate in the webinar “Green Entrepreneurs? Taking challenges as opportunities”. The webinar was dedicated to the challenges green entrepreneurs must face in the post-Coronavirus context and the opportunities offered by projects funded by the European Union. Following the success of this webinar and due to the many questions asked about the SwitchMed programme during the event, a special question and answer session dedicated to SwitchMed was held online on Thursday 18 June.

At the 4 June webinar, the SwitchMed Programme was represented by Sallouha Bouzgarrou, an expert in training and capacity building. In her speech she presented training programmes that meet the needs of green entrepreneurs and gave an overview of an upcoming platform designed to support them.

For the questions and answers session of 18 June, dedicated exclusively to SwitchMed, Hichem Salem, leader of projects for green entrepreneurship and the civil society for SCP/RAC, and Sallouha Bouzgarrou were both invited to answer questions relating specifically to the Green Entrepreneurship programme of the initiative. The two experts thus introduced the partners implementing the Green Entrepreneurship programme at the local level, and provided the audience with more details on the tools intended to help create green businesses which will be available on the platform mentioned by Ms Bouzgarrou during the webinar, namely:

– The development of the green business model,
– The development of the green business plan,
– An eco-design tool for products and services,
– A tool to facilitate access to financing,
– A tool to facilitate market access,
– A tool for measuring and monitoring indicators.

This session was also an opportunity to recall that the national partners in support of green entrepreneurs will launch calls for candidates for the selection and training of 120 of them in each country. These candidates will receive specific training on the development of green business models and the best 10/15 projects will benefit from a period of incubation and technical assistance for the launch of their green businesses.

The “Green Entrepreneurs? Taking challenges as opportunities” and the subsequent questions and answers session, broadcast live on Facebook, recorded 3,710 and 1,064 live views respectively, and approximately 27,000 and 31,000 views for their online reruns on this social network.
