The training of trainers sessions, led by MedWaves, the UNEP/MAP Activity Centre for SCP experts in coordination with its local partner CEDARE, was recently organized in Egypt. It focused on transfering the Green Business methodology (Green Business Model, Green Business Plan) and the various tools to support green entrepreneurs. Following these trainings, the call for applications for the Green Entrepreneurship program was launched and is currently open.
The 7 days of online training sessions were organized as follows:
– 4 days of Green Business Model training took place in June 2022.
– 3 days of Green Business Plan training took place in July 2022.
Trainers from the following organizations participated in the online training sessions:
– Athar
– AUC Venture Lab
– CEDARE
– Cultiv
– Enpact Egypt
– Entrepreneurship Center for Social Impact
– ERI
– Flat 6 Labs
– Green Energy Academy
– Icealex
– Intersection
– MSMEDA
– Nahdet El Mahrousa
– Nubiavest
– SEKEM
The trainers belonging to these organisations cover several Egyptian regions, namely Fayoum, Iskandariyah, Jizah, Qahirah and Upper Egypt.
This activity is part of SwitchMed’s Green Entrepreneurship program and is based on MedWaves platform, TheSwitchers.org, which brings together all the tools and methodologies required to develop sustainable businesses.
The training ended with tests to validate the acquisition of knowledge by the trainers and the Certificate of Approval of the sustainable business model development course recognising them as certified trainers to support green entrepreneurs. Thus, out of 45 trainers, 26 trainers, 62% of them women, were certified in the green business model methodology (ideation phase). In the green business plan methodology (creation phase), 22 trainers were certified out of 36, of which 60% were women.
These Certificates of Approval open the possibility to participate as a trainer in the workshops to support and mentor the green entrepreneurs in the ideation phase of the sustainable enterprise, which will begin in September 2022 and in the creation phase of the enterprise, which will intervene thereafter.
All the trainers who have followed the ToTs will also have the opportunity to replicate the training within their own BSOs and beyond, in order to extend this new business model based on environmental and social values.
In parallel, CEDARE launched on the 20th of July its call for applications for the Green Entrepreneurship program, which aims to train 140 entrepreneurs in the ideation phase and 16 entrepreneurs in the creation phase (incubation).
The call will be opened until the 20th of August. The interested candidates must send their applications here: www.theswitchers.org/fr/call-for-applications
