As part of the initiative to help actors in sustainable tourism in Tunisia to broaden access of their sustainable products to national and international markets, SwitchMed launches 4 surveys in French for Switchers (small sustainable tourism businesses and other tourism-related service providers), public and support actors, intermediaries and large companies. The aim of these surveys is to determine their expectations and needs in terms of sustainability, to bring tourism actors closer to suppliers and to facilitate the marketing of sustainable tourism products.
This initiative, jointly led by the Regional Activity Centre for Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP/RAC) through the SwitchMed programme, and the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) has been launched in order to deploy the potential of sustainable tourism in Tunisia. While the tourism sector is considered to be the driver of the Tunisian economy and represents 10% of national GDP, sustainable tourism remains relatively unexplored. Supported by experts, SwitchMed and UNCTAD are working to promote this sustainable sector, the demand for which continues to increase, particularly in the European travel industry.
Thanks to these questionnaires, each of which is aimed at different categories of actors in sustainable tourism, SwitchMed will not only be able to identify opportunities for marketing sustainable tourism products, but also to establish an interactive map of sustainable tourism initiatives in Tunisia. Subsequently, dialogue workshops will be organised to share these results and create a sustainable supply working group that will seek to exploit the identified trade opportunities and promote collaboration among actors in the value chain.
Are you a Switcher or an actor in public or private sustainable tourism in Tunisia or do you know people and organisations involved in this project? Please complete the questionnaire that relates to you before Sunday 28 June and share it with your network. Your help is invaluable!
